Padre Pio at the Heart of Pride Care’s Global Breakthrough
Kampala, 8/5/2026. Padre Pio Insurance Brokers has emerged as a central force behind the global recognition earned through the Pride Care partnership with Pride Bank, following the product’s success at the Global Banking and Finance Awards 2026. The recognition underscores the growing role of innovative insurance providers in expanding financial protection to ordinary Ugandans through strategic collaborations with financial institutions.
As the originator of the Mass Market Medical Insurance Cover, Padre Pio Insurance Brokers developed the underlying insurance solution that is now offered to customers through Pride Care under a white label arrangement with Pride Bank. Through this partnership, the product has been positioned as an affordable and accessible health insurance solution designed specifically for the mass market.
The collaboration reflects a deliberate effort to simplify insurance and integrate it into everyday financial services. While Pride Bank provides the customer platform and outreach under its Malayo ne Pride campaign, Padre Pio designed the insurance framework that makes the solution practical, affordable, and easy to understand for individuals and families across the country.
Padre Pio’s contribution goes beyond conventional brokerage services. The firm played a lead role in conceptualising and structuring the Mass Market Medical Insurance Cover to respond to the realities faced by many Ugandans who have traditionally viewed insurance as expensive, complicated, or inaccessible. Their innovative approach was recognised in 2025 when they received the Most Innovative Insurance Broker Award at the Insurance Innovation Awards for the same product.
The success of Pride Care demonstrates how partnerships between insurance providers and financial institutions are reshaping financial inclusion in Uganda. Customers are able to access medical cover by maintaining a minimum balance of UGX 100,000, removing many of the barriers commonly associated with insurance uptake. This model has helped position insurance as a practical financial protection tool rather than a luxury product.
